I'm thinking of applying for a DoD job teaching English to Saudi personel. Does anyone provide me with some info on Eskan village...from what I can find it's the american compound there.
That is a perfect example of my typing not keeping up with what I'm thinking. I changed my thought mid stream...seems I do this when I text too. Must be my AADD. I'm glad you two clowns had a laugh at my expense as you OBVIOUSLY didn't know anything about Eskan Village. ~
Without a doubt that's true Phil....with friends like you guys, I don't need any enemies. I did get the info I needed from a friend in the Army though, so this topic is closed, no feedback needed.

Don't really know anything about the place you asked about. I do know, or have known, a number of people who've worked in Saudi on a variety of projects. Generally...........real good money for moderate risk (e.g. safer than most of Iraq or the Stan), insulated ex pat compounds to work and live on (generally), no booze (legally). DON"T piss off your hosts, who can be superioristic, Islamic rednecks, prone to taking offense, and are into the retribution thing. My friends/associates who worked there all liked it (except the no booze thing--widely violated in some organizations; DOD will definitely be a General Order #1 thing, which includes no intoxicants of ANY kind). I'd take a job there...........no question.
PS: Learn some basic Arabic.......please, thank you, hello, how are you etc. Definitely come in very handy and helps establish a rapport.

Dubai. Be prepared to defend your virginity!
In all honesty.........I don't remember any of my sources mentioning hookers, womanizing, or social life in connection with working in Saudi. Based on that anectodotal evidence; I'd have to say going to Saudi for any of those reasons is a bad plan. They all emphasized NOT pissing off your hosts and.or falling afoul of the Saudi religious police who monitor many things, including any observed interactions between Kufar (infidels) and God fearin' Muslims. Keep in mind, Saudi ideas of crime and punishment run more towards PUNISHMENT (i.e. retribution and public shaming) than correction (i.e. rehabilitative therapy, cable TV, recreation, etc...........hope you like studying the Koran and listening to Islamic prayer CDs.............bitch! And you can read one handed!
